This bridesmaid refused to say yes.
Tiele Azambuja, a Brazilian bodybuilder and model, has pulled out of her friend’s bridal shower after being told she was “not allowed” to bring her food to the potluck.
“I take my lifestyle very seriously,” the carb-conscious Azambuja, 29, told NeedtoKnow.
“Discipline is key to the results I’m aiming for,” the fitness influencer continued, “and I knew that on my wedding day, with so many dishes full of sugar and carbs, my meal prep would be key.”
Azambuja told the bride-to-be that she would have to make her own healthy wedding menu, but the friend immediately shut down the idea.
So, the diet diva immediately gave up her bridesmaid duties.
“If I couldn’t bring my own food, I wouldn’t attend the wedding,” she said.
And now, the two have beef.
But the consequences of courtship are, unfortunately, equal during most wedding planning processes.
Some bougie brides have lost their buds forcing them to take out $20,000 in loans for their big days. Those deemed “independent” have been ostracized for naming their bridesmaids with strange name necklaces or slyly making them gain weight – so they don’t steal the spotlight – before walking down the aisle.
Sam Cutler, a health-conscious content creator, practically caught fire online after serving friends and family nothing but gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free food at her May 2023 wedding.
And Utah bride Katie Olson Hart, 21, found herself on the receiving end of social media outrage for forcing her bridal party friends into an early morning workout hours before she said “I do” in July 2022.
“An almond mom wedding,” spat one disapproving commenter, slamming Hart for her seemingly obsessive waistline-watching.
“As a bridesmaid, I’d be cheering you on in the corner with my mimosa,” said one equally outraged onlooker.
“I’d ditch the wedding party in a heartbeat,” barked another.
And while leaving as a member of the bride’s crew may seem extreme, it was Azambuja’s best bet.
“Skip my diet wasn’t an option, even though I had already bought the dress,” explained the vixen, runner-up in Brazil’s Miss BumBum 2024 pageant – an annual pageant for the best behinds.
The Azambuja boasts a large needle measuring 39 inches.
“I understand it’s her day, but I also have to take care of my body and my health,” she said. “I can’t go off my diet overnight, especially not on such an important occasion.”
But the plight of the model fell on deaf ears with the bride.
“She argued that the whole ceremony would take almost 12 hours and since I eat every three hours, there was no point in not bringing my own food,” Azambuja said. “It was not easy to make this decision because I knew how special this moment is for him.”
“But I can’t go against everything I’ve built over the years for the sake of one day.”
So she didn’t. And it’s a decision he doesn’t regret.
“It was a difficult choice, but I know what I did was right for me,” Azambuja insisted. “Maintaining discipline and consistency is a principle I apply to every aspect of my life.”
“By making this choice, I believe I have honored that part of myself.”
