American Airlines passengers rage over first-class seat that reclines too much: ‘On my lap’

Don’t tell this unhappy traveler to rest.

A first-class flier likely thought he was flying after the passenger in front stretched out in his seat on his lap on an American Airlines flight. A picture of the scandalous space invasion is currently being uploaded to X.

“‘First Class’. Dude’s on my lap,” snapped X user @av_cova, who was sitting in seat 3C on AA flight AA1851, Fox News Digital reported. “You continue to be terrible @AmericanAir.”

Included in the post was a photo of the 2C seat reclined so far back that it appears to be sitting on the passenger’s knees.

“No matter how I positioned myself, the seat was still against my knees,” the passenger told Fox News Digital. The gentleman in the seat in front of me was very kind but could not lock the seat forward as it was powerless.

Along with being uncomfortable, the predicament reportedly prevented the shocked flyer from using his tray table or “getting up,” he said in a follow-up post.

User X, who neglected to be named, added that the seat was “clearly broken. Fix it before someone else spends a fortune in first class and is disappointed,” he said.

The passenger told Fox News Digital that they alerted a flight attendant about the issue, but they “shrugged it off,” claiming it was an “old plane” and some “those seats are worn out.”

To make matters worse, the passenger reportedly spent $500 on a first class upgrade so they could enjoy extra legroom.

Virginia travel expert Gary Leff claimed something was “definitely wrong” as domestic first class seats, and especially American’s first class seats on the Airbus A320, are not designed to recline that far. .

However, he claimed that prop malfunctions were unfortunately common on older aircraft, particularly AA’s older Airbus A320s.

American Airlines responded to the flier’s complaint in X. “Keeping our aircraft in tip-top shape is always the goal,” they wrote. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will pass this right on to the Maintenance people for review. We apologize again.”

However, @av_cova wasn’t too happy with their mea culpa, claiming AA neglected to offer him a benefit or a refund.
